Project: Survey
Client: A medium-sized Parish
Situation:
Neighboring parishes with a history of shared resources and ministries began to explore the potential for greater levels of partnership and possible consolidation. This semi-rural parish needed to identify the shared vision the parish would seek as part of any future collaboration.
Faced with conditions of flat-to-declining stewardship, gravitation of some families to the other neighboring parishes, lack of energy for ministries other than worship, little interest in leadership involvement and tension between founding members and new parish members; this parish needed to understand parishioner needs and desires, and develop a strategic roadmap towards a desired future.
Solution:
TeamWorks International developed an in depth survey designed to analyze the cultural dynamic of the parish. This survey measured the breadth and depth of parishioners’ relationships with the parish. It rated the importance and value of the parish staff and ministries, school affiliated staff and programs, spiritual education programs and parish-associated community organizations and activities. Additionally, the survey measured the level of parishioner support for a variety of potential changes and initiatives.
TeamWorks International then analyzed the survey responses searching for significant correlations and clustered responses between the parishioners’ demographic characteristics and their relationships with the parish. This process provided insight into the factors that influence declining stewardship and a lack of participative energy.
Results:
TeamWorks consultants used their valuable faith based organizational experience to interpret the survey findings within the context of specific parishioner wants and desires as well as within larger religious cultural trends. TeamWorks consultants then presented survey findings to parish leaders, and guided the development of a strategic roadmap which integrated the desires of the parishioners with a concrete plan to increase stewardship and energy in all church proceedings.

Project: Integrated Research
Client: Large Urban Parish
Situation:
The goal was to raise the awareness, knowledge and capacity of parish staff regarding the needs of parishioners and Faith Formation patricipants. This task was to be completed using demographic research and the geospatial correlation of demographic data and drive-time, with the recently completed Parish Census.
Solution:
The Parish Census results were tied to member addresses and mapped. The resulting maps and charts illustrate how responses may be affected by the geographic location of the respondent. There were correlations drawn up to compare responses against ethnicity, age, drive-time and income.
Results:
The presentation of TeamWorks International's findings generated much insight and energy among parish staff. Ministries, organizational structure, assignment of personnel, allocation of resources, and program timing were re-designed, aligned and implemented within four months.
Project: Drive Time Analysis
Client: Community of Private Schools
Situation:
There are 5 Catholic elementary schools in the community area and the closest Catholic high school is 30 minutes away, across a state border. A group of energized parents and school administrators formed a task force to research the viability and keys to success of building a new Catholic high school from the ground up.
Solution:
To help answer the question of where the new school should be built TeamWorks International provided demographic research and a financial capacity analysis, along with extensive drive-time analyses, to compare the costs and benefits of three separate pre-determined locations. In addition TeamWorks provided affordability analysis, demographic profiling and an assessment of the risks of moving forward.
Results:
The task force solidified their choice for a new location based upon affordability, where the students live, commute time and potential for future population growth. They took all of TeamWorks International's recommendations and are currently moving forward with the project.

Project: Demographic Profiling
Client: Independent School District
Situation:
A task force was assembled to address the concern over population growth and decline across the district. Areas of decline contained more elementary schools than areas of growth. The goal was to redesign school boundaries while distributing students to match 5 year demographic targets with profiling of students' race, age and gender.
Solution:
TeamWorks International created digitized boundary maps that divided the district into neighborhoods, created a demographic profile for the district as a whole, for each school, and for each neighborhood which described the current reality. The next step was to re-draw the boundaries according to a number of options the task force had decided on. Predictive profiling assesed neighborhood, school, and district profiles for each scenario decided upon by the task force. They recieved not only the maps that marked the physical shift in boundaries, but the before and after profiles that mark the effect each scenario had on the school and surrounding community.
Results:
The task force used TeamWorks International's analytics to choose the scenario that achieved all district objectives, shifted 42% of K-8 students, and served to help the community transition smoothly into the new reality of Wayzata Public Schools.

Project: Geocoding and Mapping
Client: A Metropolitan Catholic Archdiocese
The Situation:
An Archdiocese wanted to map all of their registered members and have that data available for mapping all parishes on an individual level. The larger idea was to set up a system by which all major diocesan ministry and capital improvement decisions were supported by analytics research and analysis.
The Solution:
TeamWorks International geocoded all registered archdiocesan members and provided a standardized set of demographic maps for each parish upon request. A database was created to provide all parishes with the option for in-depth analysis and market share.
The Result:
Archdiocesan mapping generated questions at system-wide, regional and parish levels that focused efforts for improvement. Many parishes chose to use TeamWorks International for further analysis and facilitation. In 2005 this Archdiocese was recognized nationally as an example of best practices in a Catholic Archdiocese.

Project: Financial Capacity Analysis
Client: A Small Rural Parish
The Situation:
Questions generated by initial demographic mapping prompted the use of financial capacity analysis to assess the situation. The parish had questions in particular about the financial capacity to support the building of a new parish center.
The Solution:
TeamWorks International used giving data provided to them by the parish to establish financial capacity, validate (or invalidate) preconceptions about parish giving, determine internal demographics where giving potential exists, provided drive-time maps and charts comparing the parish community to surrounding communities. The analysis was part of the visioning process guided by TeamWorks International.
The Result:
The findings and recommendations played a key role in the parish deciding to move forward with the building of the new parish center.

Project: Market Potential Analysis
Client:Large Regional Cemetery
Situation:
A large cemetery in an urban and suburban settings was faced with a decline in burials, increase in cremations and a shift in client expectations and demographics. Management needed data to inform an assessment and re-imagining process of their purpose and vision so that they could position their organization to provide high quality products /services and increase market share.
Solution:
TeamWorks International performed an initial cultural analysis of the cemeteries' current management and sales structures to uncover the organizations' underlying values, experiences and assumptions. TeamWorks then used this information to design a multi-phase quantitative research project to gather insightful information that would inform a data-driven marketing campaign. Phase One formatted and analyzed the information within the cemeteries’ private database for significant correlations and clustered data sets. Phase Two utilized GIS technology drawing from US Census Bureau databases to compare the cemeteries’ data set with larger populations within the metropolitan area.
Phase Three incorporated the larger religious denomination's membership database into an overall layered analysis of all three databases. Each phase of research produced its own significant findings. The combination of all three databases isolated the most significant factors and helped define the demographic characteristics of the cemeteries’ customer base. A customized index of key correlations was applied to a GIS geospatial coding process which created a unique density map isolating specific areas within the metropolitan area that demonstrate location of particularly high market potential.
Results
Less than 20% of the total geographic area emerged as having the highest market potential. This knowledge increased the focus of marketing and sales efforts while decreasing overall costs. This client is now leveraging a large scale survey and subsequent focus groups to connect with its target population and customize marketing messages to suit the high potential areas. As a result of the analytics and re-imagining process, this client has been identified as a leader and innovator in their industry.

Project: Market Share Analysis
Client: An Urban Parish and School
Situation:
An urban parish and school were challenged by 5 years of steady decline in membership and stewardship. The client needed to understand their condition from a regional perspective rather than a local-only perspective. Leadership operated from assumptions that overall Catholic population was in decline and was the key source of their current condition. Key decisions regarding the school, parish ministries, and pastoral assignments needed to be made within one year.
Solution:
TeamWorks International developed an innovative market share analysis that demonstrated that this client had the lowest market share of seven Catholic parishes with several as close as 15 minutes drive time. The question shifted from "Where have all the Catholics gone?" to "Why is this parish not fit with the local Catholic population?"
Results
The parish began to explore how a better percentage of retention could be gained from the surrounding Catholic community. Through meetings and community-based discussions of conditions and direction, the parish is moving to create conditions that would allow for a larger portion of the community to feel welcomed and ultimately increase weekly attendance within 5 minutes drive-time of the parish location.
